Robert De Niro To Receive The Honorary Palme D’or At Cannes Film Festival 2025

The ‘Raging Bull’ and ‘Taxi Driver’ actor will also treat the festival-goers to a masterclass

Today, it was announced that the American actor, director and producer Robert De Niro will be honoured with the honorary Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. During the festival’s opening ceremony, which will take place on the 13th of May, De Niro will join the star-studded list of previous recipients, including George Lucas, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford and more. The following day, the actor will also give a masterclass at the Debussy Theatre.

Reflecting on this news, De Niro stated,

“I have such close feelings for the Festival de Cannes. Especially now, when there’s so much in the world pulling us apart, Cannes brings us together — storytellers, filmmakers, fans, and friends. It’s like coming home.” —

Cannes Film Festival 2025 will take place between the 13th and 24th of May. The full festival program will be revealed this Thursday, the 10th of April.
