EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024: Host and longlists revealed!
The EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024 countdown has officially begun as both the host and the longlists were revealed. It was announced that David Tennant will be hosting this year’s awards ceremony, which will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on the 18th of February and which will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer. Tennant — who ironically hasn’t been nominated for a BAFTA yet — said in his official statement the following:
“I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.”
Besides unveiling the host for its 77th film awards ceremony, BAFTA also revealed the longlists for twenty-four categories, including ‘Best Film’, ‘Director’, ‘Cinematography’ and the four performance categories. As expected, Barbie and Oppenheimer secured the most spots on the longlists, alongside Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, with fifteen mentions each. They’re followed up by Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things (14 mentions), Maestro, directed by Bradley Cooper (12 mentions) and Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn (11 mentions). You can find all the longlists here:
